    Rochester District Highway Board covered the parishes of Chalk, Cliffe, Cobham, Cuxton, Denton, Frindsbury, Grange, Halling, Higham, Ifield, Lidsing, Luddesdowne, Meopham, Northfleet, Nurstead, St. Margaret's, Rochester, Shorne, Strood, and Wouldham. Until 1869 Hoo was also included; after 1869 see the collections HB/Ho (Hoo Highway Board) and HRDC (Hoo Rural District Council). The Rochester District Highway Board was a predecessor of Strood Rural District Council. Lord Darnley's estates also largely fell within this area, and he served as chair to the board.
