The Strood Extra Parish Meeting was formalised further to the Local Government Act 1894. Meetings were initially held twice a year, but by the 1920s there were three or four meetings each year. The meetings took place at the Committee Rooms, Gun Lane, Strood. Rochester City Council took over its responsibilities in 1934 (Ministry of Health Order).
