- Administrative history / biographyThe Hoo St. Werburgh Board School opened in 1875 on Stoke Road. It provided accommodation for 250 children and the Head Teacher was Dafydd Bonvonni. The infants were taught initially as a separate class within the Mixed School, but in 1894 an Infants' Department was created with its own building on Church Street. Children moved up to the Mixed School when they reached the age of eight (or, later, six). In June 1962 new school buildings opened for the Junior School at Pottery Road. In 1977 the schools on the Hoo Peninsula were reorganised into a three-tier system and Hoo acquired a Middle School for pupils aged 9-13. This arrangement continued until 1994.
