  • Scope and content
    Crew lists arranged into bundles by year. Details of vessels in each bundle can be found at the file level. The crew lists themselves generally contain the following information: • Name of vessel • Official number • Port of registry, port number and date of registry • Registered tonnage • Name and address of managing owner • Name, certificate number and address of master • Dates of commencement and termination of half-year • Names of crew, ages, town and country where born, vessel in which last served, date and place of discharge from previous vessel, date and place of joining current vessel The documents are variously entitled: • "Official log book and account of voyages and crew of a vessel of less than 80 tons register exclusively employed upon the coasts of the United Kingdom" (Crew List D & O.7) • "Half-yearly agreement and account of voyages and crew of a ship engaged in the home trade and only and official log book for a vessel exclusively employed on the coasts of the United Kingdom" (Agreement Eng. 6) • "Account of voyages and crew of home trade ship, to be delivered half-yearly to the superintendent of a mercantile marine office" (Crew List D) • "Agreement for home trade ship" (Agreement B) The vessels are either coasters, tugs or lighters and in practice are nearly all barges.
