    The earliest chapel stood opposite the end of Five Bells Lane in Rochester High Street. It was opened in 1770 by John Wesley and sold to a Mr Elliott for £1050 in c.1810. In that year the congregation moved to new premises known as Bethel Chapel on St. Margaret's Banks, Rochester (see M5/2/Db).
